Welcome to the Exciting World of Slump Glassware. Since
1988, I have chosen plate glass to work with because I love the cool
emerald green color within it; it reminds me of tropical ocean water. The
natural beauty of glass is captured when light casts a subtle glow through
the textures I have created. These textures, or patterns, result from the
ceramic molds which the glass slumps upon and/or free form guides that
allow the glass to establish an identity of its own.
Glass is considered to be a liquid that evolves from sand
when using high temperatures. It then becomes the essence of the
relationship between land and ocean.
My "Seafoam Dinnerware Collection" captures the
aftermath of an ocean wave, known as white water, as it recedes from the
sandy shore.
I was inspired to design the “Rock Bottom”
pieces after seeing water flowing over rocks in a near by stream.
My “Wood Grain” pieces are designed for the
unique textures and patterns wood produces.
The "Bookends" or book beginnings, are the
epitome of recycling. They are the corners of the squares that are leftover
from the formation of the plates.
I draw my inspirations from the natural lines of the
oceans and the land that interacts with it.
